Piano
Training & Experience
Charity started private piano lessons at the age of 6. She began with Royal Conservatory where she learned the fundamentals of music theory and technique. Having this foundation, Charity transitioned to playing contemporary music which is where she developed a real passion for the piano as an inspiring, relatable, and creative outlet to her life journey. Since then, she has continued to play and perform individually, or as part of a group or band, in churches, at weddings, and family gatherings. Charity also enjoys creating music of her own and playing as an expression of herself. Charity began teaching in 2016 at Aspire Fine Arts School, teaching both group and private lessons. She taught there for 4 years and loved the experience and opportunity of working in a school setting. With the changing times and a desire for more flexibility, Charity has decided to teach independently. This will enable her to offer more options to her students by offering either on-line or in person lessons that best meet the needs of the individual client and family. Charity also believes it is important to continue learning and educating herself, and so she continues to take private piano lessons and expand on her skills and knowledge of music theory in order to provide her students with the best training possible.

Teaching Method & Program
Charity has a unique way of relating to her students and helping them to find and embrace who they are. Charity will teach the fundamentals of music theory but also works with her students to find what teaching and playing style will work best for them. She loves to come alongside her students and encourage them to reach their full potential. Charity has found that her students excel much faster and enjoy music much more with her approach to teaching. Many of her students have advanced 1-2 levels in a given year because of her dedication to each student and ensuring they truly understand the foundations of music. Her lessons always include ear training, sight reading, verbal and written theory elements, memorization, reviewing and working on previous week’s repertoire, and learning new repertoire. She also offers composition elements to her lessons and can help students develop their own sheet music if that sparks their creativity and interest. Music should be enjoyable, relatable, and fun for all, and that is Charity’s mission for all of her lessons. Charity uses the Faber & Faber Music books as a starting point for the majority of her students, however, if they have a Royal Conservatory background or prefer using another series of books, Charity is adaptable. With experience in teaching a variety of curriculums, she is able to tailor the lessons to meet the student’s individual needs and goals in piano.
